Joy Ritter

Meet the Teacher

I was born and raised in Lawrence County and graduated from BNL. I have 13 years experience teaching preschool and 3 years at the kindergarten level. For the past four years, I have worked as a paraprofessional as a Title One facilitator as well as taught elementary IT specials.

I am married to Jay Ritter, a teacher, and have two sons: Shawn—23, and Jathan—21. I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, and singing.

Preschool has always been my favorite level to teach, and I am excited to return to an area in education that has a special place in my heart. I cannot wait to meet the first of many “Little Hornets” that I will have the privilege of having in class with me.

Little Hornets = Big Happy!

See what Little Hornets have to say about their experience…

We had been looking at options for preschool for close to a year, and nothing felt right.  When we got the mailer for an introduction to Springville Community Academy, we were immediately interested… We loved the curriculum they were planning to use...

Our child seems to have adapted to school better than we could’ve hoped, and we credit that, at least in part, to her teacher, Mrs. Ritter.  All of the members of staff we’ve met have been great, and we can’t wait to meet more of them as our child moves through the grades at SCA.

I am a 3rd time parent but 1st time special needs parent and last year thinking about preschool for our 4 year old special lady was terrifying, she had never been without me or her home nurse, but Springville school and Little Hornets were amazing and accommodating and her nurse even joined her in the beginning, she also had to take some time away for medical conditions and herself and her siblings and our family received overwhelming support from the school, the teachers, the other students, and PTO. We also watched her grow tremendously in her development socially and cognitively. We could not have dreamed for a better experience or environment for our girl, and our entire family!
