Summer School

Summer School Starts next week for Foreign Language and PE. Foreign Language is 8:30-11:00 and PE is 12:00-2:30. Drop off for the morning is at 8:30 in the back parking lot. Pick up is at 11:00 in the back  parking lot. Drop off for the afternoon is at 12:00 in the back parking lot and pick up is at 2:30 in the back parking lot. We will not have aftercare for summer school.

• PE/Health Session 1: June 3-14 12:00-2:30 (Mrs. Amy Greenan)

• Math Session 2: June 17-28 8:30-11:00 (Mr. Bob Ruble)

• ELA Session 2: June 17-28 12:00-2:30 (Mr. Tim Baker) 

Amy Greenan PE/Health

Mrs. Greenan is passionate about keeping kids healthy and teaching them to take care of themselves.  She has been a runner for most of her life, participating in track and cross country at Shawswick Jr. High, Bedford North Lawrence High School, and Purdue University.  While at Purdue, she earned her BA in Elementary Education and has minors in Middle School Social Studies and Coaching.  She is also licensed to teach K-12 Physical Education. After 7 years of teaching 3rd grade, she is in her second year of teaching PE and Middle School Science at SCA. Along with many years of coaching youth summer running programs and local running clubs, Mrs. Greenan coached 8 years of co-ed track and cross country at 2 high schools in Oregon. She is currently in her 2nd year of coaching the girls’ cross country team at BNL.

Gardening, and sharing the love of it with others, is another favorite pastime.  Mrs. Greenan is a Master Gardener.  She grows flowers and sells bouquets on Saturday mornings at the Bedford Farmers Market.  She has been involved with the Lincoln Elementary Green Thumbs Garden Club and has attended the School Garden Teacher Training Program at the Occidental Arts & Ecology Center in Occidental, California.  Every Earth Day she plants take-home gardens with each of her classes to provide them with fresh vegetables all summer long.

Mrs. Greenan lives outside of Bedford with her husband Scott, their border collie Sawyer, 2 cats, and Sid, the red eared slider.

Profe Pope, Spanish

Profe Pope is delighted to be teaching Spanish at SCA's Summer School this summer. While his background is in linguistics and French language and literature, he equally enjoys teaching the second most spoken language in the U.S. He uses techniques such as stories, gestures, comprehensible input, and games to make class as engaging and fun as possible.

Bob Ruble, Math

Mr. Ruble has dedicated his life teaching math, having retired as a math teacher from Oolitic Middle School. We're so happy to add him to our summer staff team!

Tim Baker, ELA

Mr. Tim Baker is currently (2018-present) White River Valley High School’s English Department Chair and AP English Language and Composition & Dual Credit English 111 instructor and its English Literature and Composition & Dual Credit English 206 Introduction to Literature instructor. Prior to founding the successful AP program at White River Valley High School, Mr. Baker founded the AP program at Lighthouse Christian Academy in Bloomington, Indiana. Both programs flourished under his leadership. 

Mr. Baker has a BA degree in Secondary English Education 5-12 from Indiana University and a graduate degree from Southern New Hampshire University: MA: ECW. He also has taken multiple courses from Vincennes University (47 credit hours), Indiana Wesleyan University, National University, and Brandman University to augment his skills. Linguistics, Literary historical periods and genres, Advanced Expository Writing, General Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Applied Psychology, and creative writing with an emphasis in nonfiction writing are areas of expertise and interest. As well, Mr. Baker has 8 years of experience as an adjunct instructor at Ivy Tech Community College in writing courses, an experience that helped him to see where students freshly out of high school needed specific academic support. 

Notable awards for Mr. Baker include being named 2023-24 Armstrong Teacher Educator for the Indiana University Wright School of Education that recognizes teacher excellence. Being recognized by Ivy Tech as the 2023 Dual Credit President’s Award for Excellence Finalist, Ivy Tech, Bloomington. Being chosen multiple times as the Positive Influence instructor and several times as Indiana Academic ALL-STARS Certificate of Merit as selected by students through the Indiana Association of School Principals. 

What Mr. Baker values beyond any awards is helping students gain confidence through increased academic exit skills. He believes that teachers who fail to see the person behind the writing are not leading at all, so while he holds students accountable for productive behavior, he also values grace and redemption. Mr. Baker is working with SCA students this summer as a way to give back to his community before he returns to his teaching duties at White River Valley High School in the fall of 2024.

Stacie Leach

Mrs. Leach is excited for summer school this year! She loves working with students and helping them learn and be successful. Mrs. Leach enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her family on their farm in Fayetteville.

Kea Villaflor

I’m excited to work with students this summer and help them learn and more importantly have fun learning! I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, spending time outdoors and traveling as much as my time and finances allow!
